The essential parts required:

• Yeast to feed the microworms. Yeast may become self sustaining where cereal is used as the living medium for the microworms.
• Vessel for the microworms to be kept in. Should have a lid to promote humidity but small amount of ventilation is required.
• Medium for the microworms to live upon. This is generally moist cereal or potting mix.

With a cereal based culture the yeast will feed on the carbohydrates and in turn become food for the microworms. Dry yeast can supplement the microworms diet. In a soil based culture the yeast cannot sustain itself and will need to be added at regular intervals.

Commercial cultures from aquarium businesses are almost exclusively cereal based. A culture will remain productive for a number of weeks but will need to be freshly restarted after worm numbers have peaked.

To make a fresh microworm culture:

• Select some cereal based food such as stale white bread or porridge. Baby cereal and wheat biscuit style cereals are excellent. Corn flakes seem less useful.
• Boil or microwave this mixture, place it in a container. Allow it to cool then place some holes in the lid. Ideally the mixture could be autoclaved. This step reduces the number of mould spores that have the potential to take hold and destroy a microworm culture. A mature culture will out compete mould but freshly started cultures are vulnerable.
• The consistency of the cereal should be moist but not wet. Although theseworms will stay alive for many hours on the bottom of the aquarium, a microwormculture can drown in only a few millimeters of water.
• Collect as many worms as possible and smear them over the top of the medium. Microworms only live on the surface where they can readily breathe. Sprinkle with dried yeast.

To Your Success

Well, we’ve been using this one for more than 2 years now.  Our solar powered wood/charcoal stove.  We’ve been redesigning this for the nth time.. lol.  Trying to make it easier on cleaning.  The stove works perfectly fine using either wood or charcoal, and can cook real fast.  What we are trying to do with the design of the stove is to make it look better and cleaning (removing of ashes) easier.

The stove has a blower that can be adjusted to how high or low you want the fire.  The blower is powered by solar panel during daytime and solar charged deep cycle battery in the evening.

The model is our recent design, and will be changed next week .  Pics were taken during a demo at a construction site.

Solar panel used – 5 watts only.

We used scrap woods for cooking.  With LPG price so high these days, using this one have helped us a lot in saving money.  About 4-5 pieces of cubed wood (2×2 inches) can cooked a dish (broth – like sinigang or nilaga).   Woods used were free and if there is none we can always use charcoal which is a cheap alternative also.

` Makukuha nyo yung certificate nyo sa mismong school na pinasukan nyo ng ALS.
` At makukuha nyo ito sa graduation.
` tanong nyo nlang sa teacher nyo sa ALS kung kelan ang graduation nyo .
` Sa graduation nyo, makukuha nyo ang inyong COR at Diploma.
(P.S) COR means Certificate of Rating

This is one of the easiest dish to cook here. Here’s a very simple recipe of this Filipino dish.

One of my favorite vegetable dish that is so easy to cook!

Ingredients:
1 cup sitaw (stringbeans) cut into 1 inch size
3 cloves of garlic minced and chopped
1 medium onion sliced
3 tablespoons of soy sauce
3 tablespoons of vinegar
half a glass of water
200 g chicken fillet sliced or ground pork (meat is optional)
oil for frying
salt, pepper to taste
2 pcs dried bay leaf (laurel)
peppercorns

Procedure:
Add oil in a pan, and fry garlic, then onion till soft. Add in the meat (here i used chicken fillet) stir fry, then add the string beans, stir fry a little. Add the liquid ingredients and simmer. Add salt and pepper, depending on your taste. Cook until the vegetables are tender, add in the bay leaf and peppercorns a minute or two before turning off the fire.

Serve with rice.

A few minutes away from Pala-Pala intersection. The place is easy to find because its just beside the high-way.  You can reach here by commute and you will not get lost lol…  Transportation for commuting is by jeep or bus.

What I like here is that it is very accessible. We went there commuting only by jeep. I also like the fact that I don’t need to bring any food, just buy foods there, save me the hassle of cooking and carrying a lot of stuff. Plus the entrance fee is affordable .  There is a restaurant just beside it, you know those that serve sizzling types.  Magdaragat is also beside the place, pick your own meats/seafood and have it cook in any restaurant there.

The tables, cottages and stage

I also like the kiddie pool with the mushroom umbrella painted with Disney characters. My little boy who is 5 years old really loves it , he’s not even afraid to be by himself (of course he is being watched all the time), he sits, walks and swims by himself without being scared, unlike in other resort that we’ve visited where he always wants to be carried or someone holding him.

They have QTV’s, rooms to stay, a hall, 2 pools, for kids and an adult pool (4 ft) with a slide. They also have a small stage.  Blaring music as you go swimming is available lol.  Function halls are also available.

They also have a mini bar / resto.  If you bring your own alcoholic drinks you will need to pay corkage fee of P300.00 at the entrance.

The minibar and food counter

The pools are not that big, only 2, 1 for adult and 1 for kids, but we liked the place anyway.  When we visited there it wasn’t crowded. Open any day of the year.  We would definitely go back here again, since my kids love swimming, we can just go here anytime we like. No worries on food preparation. We’ll just buy food there, there’s a sari-sari store also beside the place. Can go there by jeep or by bus if commuting.

You can have night swimming  and I forgot to mention above, the place has a WI-FI.
